Victorian Fire Disaster
TREW Relief Effort, 2009
Noticeboard - Week 8
Australian Performance Horse Magazine
We'd like to thank Journalist Brooke Purcell and the editors of Australian Performance Horse Magazine for their coverage of the Victorian fires in their April/May edition.
Now two months on, it is very easy for people to assume that the need for support of fire affected horses and their owners has has passed. Providing information and exposure to this devastating event helps to keep in the public eye what is still a 'current' event in the lives of those affected.
Donations
As pledged, TREW will continue to update donors of the allocation of donated funds. As of 8.04.09, donations made specifically to the TREW Equine Fire Relief Effort fund total $25,598.55.
We are liaising with horse owners in the fire affected areas, both through our Relief Centre, and through contacts the committee has made throughout this effort, as to what they perceive as their greatest immediate needs.
Today TREW has purchased fencing materials to the value of $10,580, which will be delivered to our Relief Centre within the week. We have already identified around 20 recipients for some of these materials who more than qualify as very deserving of this support.
