Victorian Fire Disaster
TREW Relief Effort, 2009
Week 5
What a great end to Week 5.
Winnie & Baloo arrive at their new home!
I know many of you, like us, have been excitedly waiting for the homing of the two ponies for two young girls mentioned in Noticeboard Week 3. (The task involved a request from a concerned Kinglake resident, regarding two little girls whose beloved Ponies had perished in the fires).
Yesterday was the day that the girls got to meet the two ponies. Thank you so much to everyone involved in making this such a success. It was a real joint effort between the TREW members, committee, and forum members. What a team!
Thank you in particular to forum member Catherine, for the indefinite free lease of the handsome Baloo, to Donna for finding the beautiful Winnie, to Winnie's past owner Connie, who dropped her price significantly, making it within the realms of possibility that the TREW members could purchase her, to all of those TREW members who generously contributed cash towards her purchase, (Tanya, Donna, Tara, Georgia from FoalGuard, Jane, Jode, and the *TREW Aid Fund), to Liz, who donated a saddle for Winnie, and to all of those anonymous donors who have sent gear to our relief center, enabling us to kit the Ponies out in style.
A big thank you also goes to TREW member Sammi, for accommodating and caring for the ponies while they were in transit, and for delivering them on our behalf.
On to the photos. I think these photos will speak volumes as to just how much this gift meant to the girls and their family. Thanks also for the great pictures Sammi.
* Please note - the TREW Aid Fund is an initiative which runs all year around. It is a separate fund to that of the Equine Fire Relief Fund, which has been established to cater for the needs of current events. You can visit details of the TREW Aid Fund here.
