August Update
13.08.09 - News from Kinglake Riders Club
"Sorry for the late notice. Unfortunately it’s taken all this time to clear our grounds, and all we have is a fence for safety. We really do appreciate your help, and all the help we have received. We could not have make a start without Triple R . Without the removal of the stumps we could not have started our road to recovery. Our grounds were in such a bad situation, with so many burnt trees and buildings. The track is very long for us. It still seems like yesterday we lost our homes and our horses.
We still have a long way to go with no clubroom or anywhere undercover, no equipment. We don’t even have water to our grounds or toilets. However the grant will help us move forward. It taken all this time and a lot of applications for the government body to agree to help. The photo’s show our very nice new fence along with our burnt show jump wings. We have had such great support from the horse community.
Thank god for all of you. We know it was a bit premature to return to our grounds but we just wanted to be back. We are waiting on the delivery of a small portable building to help us through the winter.
The Pony Club has not returned as yet due to lack of facilities. The horse float donated is being used by the Pony Club to assist a few more of them to attend rallies elsewhere. I have just heard from our President Lisa Portman that aportable building has arrived today. That’s great news for us.
Thank you again for you immediate help when we really needed it. Our club has been a bit fragmented over the last few months while some members have their homes and horses off the mountain."
Sincerely
Pat Hancock
Kinglake Riders Club
Our sincerest thanks to Pat for taking the time to provide this update to TREW and our supporters, without whom these contributions to rebuilding the club grounds would not have been possible. It is fantastic to hear of the progress being made and we wish the members of the Kinglake Adult Riding Club and Pony Club all the best.
Huge thanks again to Horserail who have made the recovery efforts of many of the fire affected clubs, families and individuals just that little bit easier.
