Horses In Care
TREW Horses
Surrendered Equines:
Where an owner is no longer able to provide for an Equine in their care, providing they have ownership rights over the Equine, and the Equine meets the criteria within the TREW mission statement the animal may be surrendered to TREW.TREW will carry out the hands-on recovery and rehabilitation providing a safe haven with one of its carers, appropriate feeding, medical care, handling and training prior to re-homing.
Owners seeking to surrender Equines to TREW must complete an Equine surrender form, submit all registration papers and release all rights and responsibilities related to the animal.
If you have any queries, wish to report a neglected equine or want to discuss surrendering your own horse, please contact TREW at equines@triplerequinewelfare.org.au
Adoption/Leasing:
Equines surrendered into the care of TREW, once deemed ready for re-homing, may be adopted/leased by members on a long term basis. All leasers must be complete a legally binding lease application form and be a member of the organization for the duration of the lease.Prospective homes will be visited by a representative of the TREW committee. Details of all adoptions/leases are recorded on the TREW database. TREW retains full ownership rights over all Equines leased/adopted through its rehabilitation/adoption program.
TREW Assisting the Community
One of TREWs "Mission Statement" points is to help our communities where possible. We take the time to focus on individual cases involving ordinary people within our communities who require some sort of assistance be it in regards to feeding plans, basic horsemanship advice, assistance in special cases or a range of other areas.
The stories posted so far show that equine welfare embraces so much more than simply rescuing and rehabilitating horses alone. There are so many different scenarios, backgrounds, histories and situations that lead up to, and contribute to a horse becoming neglected.
With early intervention, often the more serious issues can be prevented. This is something all animal lovers can contribute to, everytime we come into contact with horse owners/carers that are less experienced and/or knowledgeable.
Even if you do not have the experience yourself to deal with an issue we see, passing on TREW's contact details may well improve the lives of at least some of the horses out there, by enabling their owners to provide more appropriate care. With more information available to horse owners, cases of neglect through ignorance are less likely to occur.
If you have any queries or require assistance, please contact TREW at equines@triplerequinewelfare.org.au
