TREW Astraea
Astraea
In heavenly realms, far distant, an infant star begins its reign.Meanwhile a spirit, new, makes good its place.
Laying down all cares and woes,
Turns then, her glorious face, toward the earth,
And watches oer us until,
Beyond this earthly space, in dreams we meet.
Beautiful essence, cherished babe, hold fast our love for you.
Etched upon our hearts your name remains.
Shining from within it speaks
Of courage, always, and of fight, a warrior brave.
Of fleeting light, soon gone, that crossed our path.
Shine bright our little star and so live on,
Our Goddesss name-sake, our sweet Astraea.

Astraea is one of the foals rescued from Bridgewater.
Astraea has been very kindly sponsored by Julia & David Walker. Julia and David have offered Astraea a permanent home, upon her recovery and being weaned from mum. We want to thank Julia sincerely for making a place in her family for this special young lady, who deserves the love that we know she'll be shown in her new home.
She has been named 'Astraea', which Julia says means 'Star', and is the name of the Goddess who, when she saw how rotten the world had become, left earth and became the constellation Virgo.
Much to our dismay, upon receiving the transfer of ownership papers from Astraea's breeder, we now know that she was foaled in March '06, which means that she is actually over a year old! Even knowing this to be a fact, I'm finding it very hard to look at this little one and believe that she's a Yearling.
Astraea is being cared for by a member of our organisation on a separate property, so unfortunately I am not seeing her regularly, but am receiving reports on her progress from Rhonda.
She tells me that Astraea is being very slow to show progress, and that she still has not gained that 'spark' in her eye that you desperately wait for.
I know that Julia is worried sick, and that she is finding it very hard to not be close enough to visit Astraea regularly and spend time with her. It's a hard situation all round, and very frustrating, but between us all, I'm sure that in time Astraea will find herself, and make the trip to be safe at home with Julia.

There is a reason why this beautiful sweet filly barely lived beyond a year old, and it has everything to do with the human who bred her, and then abandoned her care. Shame, goddam shame.
